Mangaluru, Sep. 08 : The staff of St. Agnes CBSE School here gathered to celebrate the Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary and to observe the International Girl Child Day on September 7, 2020.

The Superior and the Joint Secretary Sr. Dr. Lydia Fernandes A.C graced the occasion.

The day began with the Christian hymn ‘Let us Mingle together’ sung in unison in Konkani. This was followed by a meaningful prayer service, invoking the blessings of Mother Mary. All those who were present for the celebration offered flowers to Mother Mary as a mark of love and respect for all the graces received. As a preparation to the feast , the catholic teachers conducted nine days novena prayers in honour of Mother Mary.

The Vice Principal Sr. Meera A.C. and the Carmel Blossom animator Sr. Sweedal A.C., virtually guided the catholic students to conduct nine days novena prayers and offer special intentions of the entire world in their homes. They were also inspired to make small deeds of charity during these days. The Principal Sr. Maria Gracilda A.C invited 50 needy families of St. Agnes Kannada primary and high school to participate in the celebration. She then distributed groceries to the needy families. This was an initiative to throw light on the importance of the Girl Child and to go beyond ourselves in charity.
