Mangaluru, Aug 29“Success belongs only to those who are willing to work harder than anyone else”

The staff of St. Agnes CBSE School , Mangaluru gathered to celebrate the tri events – National Sports Day, Annual Sports Meet 2020 and a preparatory part of Teachers Day celebration on 27th August 2020. This day was celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. Though the students were at home due to Covid-19 pandemic, they enthusiastically participated virtually in the sports quiz and fancy dress competition. This event was celebrated mainly to spread the awareness on the importance of sports and physical activities in every individual’s life.

The programme began with a prayer song followed by the inaugural ceremony and declaring of the sports meet open by the Chief Guest, Sr. Dr. Lydia Fernandes A.C. Superior and the Joint Secretary of St. Agnes Institutions. The backdrop and the hall arrangements were organized creatively to suit the occasion. National symbols were displayed to create the spirit of sportsmanship. The Principal Sr. Maria Gracilda along with the ever enthusiastic and energetic Physical Education teachers Ms. Devika, Ms. Babitha and Ms. Salvia organized the events and divided the teachers into four groups to build their team spirit. Events such as Dodging the ball, Seven Tiles, Ludo, Carrom, Chess, Chinese Checker, Basketball and Throw ball were planned and organised for the teachers. Teachers were filled with vigour and zest to participate in the events. Cool air made the sports zeal very pleasant and high as the teachers were free from regular routine school work.

The Administrator of St. Agnes Institution Sr. Carmel Rita A.C was the Chief Guest for the valedictory function. She honoured the winners with trophy and prizes to the winners and congratulated the teachers for their wonderful performance. She urged the teachers to keep up their sportsman spirit.
