Mangaluru, Mar 12 : The World Women's Day was celebrated very meaningfully on 8th March 2020 at Snehalaya, by its inmates.

Social worker Bifathumma inaugurated the day's function at Snehalaya and spoke about the women's rights. She also mentioned that the traditional set up of Women confined within the four walls is changed drastically.Today women are equal to men in all spheres of life and are aware of their competence.

She described the importance of International women's day as an appreciation to women's advancement in health, education, finance, politics, employment and family apart from a sweet home maker.

The Chief Guest of the function Madam Lakshmi K, a lecturer at Manjeshwar Govinda Pai Memorial Government College said that women who had led a helpless life in the world, today get a boost on account of this International women’s day. She emphasized the importance of Empowerment of women, her comfort, safety and security in the workplace.

She also mentioned that the earlier customs of Sati and other social evil practices were an atrocity against women. Today, however, women feel that they are capable of working in all sectors.

The celebration was presided over by Mrs. Olivia K. L, Trustee cum Secretary of Snehalaya Charitable Trust. She wished all women a very happy women’s day.

Mrs. Pushpawathi, Headmistress of St Joseph's higher Primary School, Kaliyoor participated as a resource person and talked on Individual Safety and Health.

Various entertainment programs were conducted by the residents and staff of Snehalaya.

On this occasion they planted four plants at the farmland of the Snehalaya Centre to commemorate the Women's Day. The program was concluded by singing the national anthem.
