Vamanjoor, Aug 16, 2025 : Under the leadership of St. Raymond’s Pre-University College, the St. Raymond’s Group of Institutions celebrated the 79th Independence Day with great pride and grandeur on August 15.

The celebration was presided over by Rev. Sr Shalet D’Souza, Provincial Councillor, Bethany Congregation, Mangalore Province, who unfurled the national flag. In her thought-provoking and inspiring address, she said:
“As children of Mother India, we must rise above all barriers of caste, creed, and religion, and stand united in our efforts for the nation’s progress. The freedom hard-earned by our forefathers finds its true meaning only when we live in harmony and work selflessly for the common good. Let us nurture a positive mindset, for it is the foundation of a strong and progressive India.”

The programme was honoured by the gracious presence of Rev. Sr. Lavita Moras B.S., Superior of St. Raymond’s Convent, who served as the Chief Guest. Her inspiring presence elevated the spirit of the celebration, instilling in all a deep resolve to uphold the values of peace, unity, and service — the true essence of freedom.

The programme began with a soulful prayer song led by the college choir under the guidance of Mrs. Anitha Ferrao, setting a reverent tone for the day. Patriotic songs and motivational speeches filled the atmosphere with national pride, reflecting the true spirit of Independence Day.

The event was conducted under the able guidance of Rev. Sr. Dr. Sadhana, Principal of St. Raymond’s Pre-University College. The dignitaries on the dais included Rev. Sr. Manisha Rodrigues, Headmistress of St. Raymond’s English Medium High School; Rev. Sr. Jacinta Rodrigues, Incharge of the Kannada Medium High School; Mr. Mayyadi, Vice President of the Parent-Teacher Association; and Mr. Mervin Jaison Vas, Vice President of the Alumni Association.
