Moodbidri, Aug 10 : A self-defence session was held at Carmel School, Moodbidri on 9 August 2025 to create awareness among students about personal safety and self-protection.
The programme was compered by Jerwin James Mendonca. The welcome speech was delivered by Aarvi Roopa of Grade 7, followed by the introduction of the chief guest by Mischelle Clara Dsouza of Grade 7.

The workshop was conducted by resource persons Shobhalatha and Karthik S. Kateel from Swaraksha for Women Trust. They demonstrated various self-defence techniques and educated the students on ways to respond effectively in unsafe situations.
Mr. Kateel also addressed the audience on the topics of cybercrime and the drawbacks of social media. He advised students to be cautious, not to trust or blame anyone blindly, and explained the concepts of good touch and bad touch along with the different types of harassment. The session also included practical demonstrations of basic self-defence moves.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Rhea Anika Dsouza of Grade 6, expressing gratitude to the guests, organisers, and participants for their contribution to the success of the programme.
