Mangaluru , July 12 : Carmel School Kotekar, CBSE, conducted its Annual General Body Meeting of Parents with great enthusiasm on 11th July,2025 in the school auditorium, marking a significant occasion of collaboration between the school and parents. The event commenced with a soulful prayer song by the school choir, invoking the blessings of the Almighty, followed by a graceful welcome dance presented by the students.

The programme formally began with a welcome address by Ms. Tripthi, who warmly greeted all the dignitaries, parents, and invitees. We were honoured to welcome Dr. Anuradha, Assistant Professor at the PG Department of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore, as the Chief Guest. With an MSW, UGC-KSET, and Ph.D., she brings over 15 years of teaching experience, 18 research publications, and global contributions through the UN Advisory Panel on Violence Against Children. Her work in child rights, gender equity, and *life skills education continues to inspire educators, parents, and youth alike.

The event was also graced by President Sr. Juliana Mary A.C., Principal Sr. Pramila A.C., Vice Principal Sr. Anitha A.C., Administrator Sr. Julie Ann A.C., and PTA Vice President Mrs. Geetha Hegde.

A detailed school report highlighting the school’s journey, achievements, and milestones was presented by Ms. Kavya and Mr. Harshavardhan, showcasing the academic, co-curricular, and infrastructural progress made during the academic year.

The Chief Guest, in her inspiring address, congratulated the school for its systematic planning and emphasized the role of parents as the first teachers. She stated, “We must empower young minds with appropriate information and a safe social environment,” and underlined the need to understand children’s emotional and developmental phases. Highlighting the power of experiential learning, she quoted, “When we hear, we might forget; what we see might remain for some time; but what we experience, explore, or experiment stays for a lifetime."

She urged parents and teachers not to compare children, reminding that “every child is unique and special" Emphasizing child rights such as the Right to Provision (access to food, education, and essentials) and the Right to Protection, she encouraged vigilant parenting and a balanced parenting style that fosters open communication and trust. She cautioned against excessive freedom, advocating the importance of monitoring and guiding children through life’s ups and downs.

The PTA Vice President, Mrs. Geetha Hegde, also addressed the gathering, commending the school’s dedicated efforts and highlighting the importance of parental involvement in a child’s education. She encouraged parents to be active participants in their child's growth, promoting healthy collaboration with teachers to support the child’s overall development.

The annual financial account report was presented by Sr. Anitha, Vice Principal, who ensured clarity and transparency regarding fund utilization and future planning.

Mrs. Chaithra offered her words of appreciation to the Chief Guest, while Tr. Demcy delivered a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, acknowledging the contributions of all dignitaries, parents, and staff for making the event a grand success.

The meeting also included the PTA Election, where new parent representatives were elected through a democratic and transparent process, ensuring continued parent participation in the school’s development and planning.

The event was seamlessly compered by Mrs. Swetha and Mrs. Prafulla, who ensured the program ran smoothly and efficiently.

The PTA Annual General Body Meeting served as a strong reminder that the foundation of every child’s success lies in the partnership between school and home, with shared responsibility to nurture, guide, protect, and empower young minds.
