Mangaluru, March 20 : The Raymond's Premier League - Season 8, organized by St. Raymond's Degree College, Vamanjoor was held at Santhoshnagar Pachanady central ground on 7th March 2024 at 8am. The dignitaries Rev. Sr. Cecilia Mendonca BS, Rev. Fr Vincent Saldanha, Mr. Rohan Periera, Sr. Shubha BS, Sr. Vithalis BS, Mrs. Sangeetha R Nayak, Mr. Aneez and Sr. Jesintha added sparkling effect to the programme.

The programme commenced with invoking God’s blessings by Rev. Fr. Vincent Saldanha, the Manager at Kodialbail Press, Mary Hill, followed by the welcome address presented by Ms. Melinda HOD of the Commerce Department. Fr. Vincent spoke about the player's Energy and active participation in the field while blessing the League.

The chief guest, Mr. Rohan Periera, proprietor, RO International Vamanjoor, expressed that team spirit, teamwork and sportsmanship is what defines a true sports person or a cricketer. The alumni added that victory or loss must not be taken as an end and sufficiency, rather it must encourage one to achieve higher in life; appreciating or giving applause to all participants, especially the opponent players must be done with a sense of sportsmanship.

The league was inaugurated by Rev. Sr. Cecilia Mendonca BS, the Corporate Manager of Bethany Educational Societyof Mangalore Province, accompanied by Mrs. Sangeetha R Nayak, the Corporator with balloon and ribbon cutting ceremony. The Sister also presided over the programme and spoke about Love and Unity from the point view of sports and spirituality.

The league was played between six teams with a round-robin method. The matches started at 10-30am and continued up to 7-30 pm in the evening. The teams gave neck-to-neck stiff competitions, while fans were loudly cheering their teams. Ray Kings ended up with the highest grade of being champions of the event while Ray Blasters had to be content with the runners up position. Mrs. Akshaya HOD of Computer Science proposed vote of thanks and Ms. Vinutha, lecturer of commerce department compered the programme.
