Mangaluru, April 14 : The 132nd birth anniversary of the Indian jurist, economist, social reformer and politician who is best known as the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar was observed in St Aloysius B. Ed. College here on April 14, 2023. The ceremony began with a brief introduction about Dr B. R. Ambedkar followed by a welcome speech.

Speaking on the occasion, the principal Dr Farita Viegas said, “B.R. Ambedkar was a survivor of the discriminatory practices of Indian society during his time. Indian society, during his time, intentionally had denied the opportunity of education to children of different communities. Only the children of upper castes were given access to school education. As a result of this Ambedkar faced many harmful and humiliating situations in his school along with his community children, yet he continued to attend classes to attain education. His experiences strengthened him to incorporate articles in the Indian constitution that ensure social justice for scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, minorities and backward classes. Education was very important for him, because he believed it plays a very important role in enlightening people. Education that he gained transformed him and enabled him to work for social well-being. His famous slogan “Educate, Agitate and Organize” advocates to create an inclusive society.”

Preethi Pais , students’ council president and her team conducted a special prayer service. Venessa Pais highlighted Ambedkar’s significant contributions to different fields of Indian Society. Ravikiran Crasta and Prajwal D’Souza conducted a quiz. Remedina Fernandes and her team paid tribute to Ambedkar through a song. Anila Tom delivered the vote of thanks. Catherine D’Silva compered the programme. Mr Jerome D'Souza staff in-charge organised the programme.
