March 25, 2026 : March 24 marks the feast of St. Óscar Romero, Archbishop of San Salvador, appointed in 1977, the same year a civil war broke out in the country. He is remembered as a man who was a voice for the voiceless and a defender of the oppressed, killed for proclaiming the word of the Lord. He was known as a “radiant witness” during one of the darkest chapters of El Salvador’s history. Today, the legacy of Saint Óscar Romero continues to inspire Catholics and human rights advocates around the world—a reminder that faith, even in the face of fear, can become a powerful force for justice.
