March 9, 2026 : Rome is home to more than 900 churches, and some of its most remarkable are dedicated not to apostles or popes, but to women whose faith shaped the history of the Church.
In this episode, EWTN explores three of these sacred places: the Church of Santa Brigida, where the mystic and reformer St. Bridget of Sweden lived and died in Rome; Santa Cecilia in Trastevere, built over the home of the early Christian martyr and patron saint of music; and Sant’Anna dei Palafrenieri, the quiet parish church inside Vatican City dedicated to St. Anne, the mother of the Virgin Mary.
Through art, relics, and centuries of devotion, these churches tell the stories of three extraordinary women — Bridget the visionary, Cecilia the martyr, and Anne the matriarch — whose lives continue to inspire pilgrims in the Eternal City today.
