But this isn’t a Hallmark holiday – it is the feast day of Saint Valentine, a Christian martyr who preached the Gospel of love, secretly married soldiers, and was beheaded for his faith. On the eve of his feast, a group of pilgrims from the United States came to venerate the relics of the patron saint of lovers, engaged couples, and happy marriages at the Church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin in Rome.
