Nov. 26, 2025 : With only two days remaining before the papal trip to Turkey and Lebanon, both countries are making final preparations as anticipation grows. The Pope’s visit to Turkey coincides with the 1,700th anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea. Turkey’s small Catholic community of around 20,000 people among 85 million citizens hopes that the Pope’s presence will serve as a sign of peace. Pope Leo’s visit to Turkey will include meetings with Turkish authorities, bishops, and priests, a visit to the Little Sisters of the Poor, and a journey to the historic site of ancient Nicaea. The trip also includes visits with local Christian communities, a visit to the Ahmed Pasha Mosque, and concludes with a large Mass before his departure for Lebanon.
