The 2025 Jubilee is not limited to Rome and the Vatican. The Catholic Church has designated various other pilgrimage sites around the world where the Jubilee indulgence can be obtained—including one on a small island in northwestern Norway. On the island of Selja, pilgrims of many nationalities gather by boat to honor St. Sunniva, a 9th-century Irish princess and Norway’s only recognized female saint. Her martyrdom inspired the founding of Norway’s first Benedictine monastery and diocese. This year’s pilgrimage marks the first time since the Reformation that both the bishops of Oslo and Trondheim were present on the island at the same time. EWTN Vatican journalist Anthony Johnson has more.
