Pope Leo XIV's weekend carried a strong sports theme with the Jubilee of Sport held at the Vatican on the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. Addressing thousands of athletes from diverse backgrounds at St. Peter’s Basilica, Pope Leo emphasized how sport can foster cooperation, reconciliation, and help us encounter the Triune God. The celebration included athletic events across Rome, most notably the Caritas Cup—a youth-driven football and netball initiative founded to engage young Catholics in faith through sport. From the Vatican to local communities, the Jubilee of Sport highlighted the joyful, unifying spirit that sport can bring to the Church and the world. EWTN Vatican journalist Bénédicte Cedergren has more.
