March 9, 2026 : Just ahead of International Women’s Day, the GIVEN Institute announced that Mother Agnes Mary Donovan, SV, the first superior general of the Sisters of Life, will receive the 2026 GIVEN Fiat Award.
GIVEN, a nonprofit organization that helps young women identify their gifts for the Church and the world, will honor Donovan “for her extraordinary witness to the dignity of women, the gift of life, and the integration of faith and professional excellence".
The Fiat Award honors women whose lives embody the response of Our Lady through faithful leadership, service, and love in the Church and the world.
Mother Agnes Mary Donovan was among the first members of the Sisters of Life, a religious community founded in 1991 by Cardinal John O'Connor. She served as the community’s first superior general from 1993 to 2021, guiding its mission to help pregnant women in crisis, offer healing retreats, and promote the sacred dignity of every human life.
Mother Agnes Mary will receive the award during the Catholic Women’s Leadership Celebration on June 27 at the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law as part of the GIVEN Institute’s annual forum, where she will also participate in a public conversation on faith and leadership.
