Jan. 16, 2025 : At the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls in Rome, mosaic portraits of every pope are on display, representing the unbroken succession of supreme pontiffs from St. Peter to the present day. Now, after over two months of meticulous work, the mosaic portrait of Pope Leo XIV has been completed. The Pope will bless the portrait, and it will become the only illuminated papal mosaic in the Basilica of St. Paul, symbolizing the reign of the current Holy Father, Leo XIV.

The Vatican Mosaic Studio of the Fabric of Saint Peter has completed the mosaic medallion dedicated to Pope Leo XIV. The mosaic roundel, with a diameter of 137 centimeters, was created using glass enamels and gold on a metal structure at the studio of the Fabric of Saint Peter.

The mosaic will be placed in the space next to the portrait of Pope Francis, in the right nave of the papal basilica, at an approximate height of 43 feet.
