Dec. 13, 2025 : Pope Leo XIV celebrated the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe with a Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica and highlighted Mary’s role in awakening “the joy of knowing themselves loved by God” among the people of America. The celebration, which drew pilgrims from around the world, coincided with the anniversary of Pope Leo's episcopal ordination.
Pope Leo prayed that Our Lady of Guadalupe would accompany the young, strengthen families, seek out those who have drifted from the Church, and help all remain united amid difficulties and conflict.
Pope Leo also asked Mary to support him in his ministry as the Successor of St Peter, so that he might confirm “in the one path that leads to the blessed Fruit of your womb, all those entrusted to [him].”
