On 19th October 2025, Pope Leo XIV will canonize Blessed Bartolo Longo (1841-1926), the first sainted knight of the Order of the Holy Sepulchre. Once deeply involved in the Satanic occult, Bartolo experienced a radical conversion through prayer, guidance from a Dominican priest, and devotion to the Holy Rosary.
He went on to spread the Rosary devotion in Pompei, compose the 54-day Pompei Novena, and build the Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Holy Rosary, which remains a spiritual center attracting pilgrims worldwide. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1980.
Locals and tourists testify to the enduring impact of his work: “Bartolo Longo taught us that the Rosary is life,” says Francesco, while others share miraculous experiences attributed to Our Lady of Pompei.
As we enter the month of the Rosary, Saint Bartolo Longo’s life reminds us: no one is beyond the reach of Christ, and prayer through Mary can transform lives.
