Sep 23, 2025 : The Vatican has concluded its 25th major Jubilee event—the Jubilee of Justice—bringing together thousands of legal professionals from across the globe, on September 20th.

This is the first time in the history of jubilees that a single event is dedicated to those who, performing various functions, are involved “in the world of secular, canonical, ecclesiastical justice, the Vatican City State, and the Roman Curia, as judges, prosecutors, magistrates, lawyers, legal practitioners, and administrative staff,” along with their families, according to the Holy See Press Office.

Pope Leo XIV, who holds a doctorate in Canon Law, emphasized that the pursuit of true justice is a "demanding task, but not impossible" for those who are genuinely committed.

United States Supreme Court Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. spoke about the role that mercy can play in the legal system.

Legal professionals from nearly 100 countries reflected on how they can better uphold human dignity—by caring for the sick and vulnerable, looking out for those in prison, and supporting people in need.

After days of prayer, fellowship, and meaningful dialogue, participants expressed a renewed commitment to letting their faith shape every aspect of their legal work.
