Sep 12, 2025 : Several European leaders have condemned Russia for sending drones into Polish airspace, describing it as an intentional escalation of the war in Ukraine. NATO air defenses, supported by Dutch fighter jets, shot down several of the drones. Polish authorities reported 19 violations of their airspace and called the incursion an act of aggression. Some drones reportedly originated from Belarus, a close ally of Moscow. Oz Sultan — the Chief Strategist at Sultan Interactive Group — joins to discuss the significance of this being the first time NATO members have operated in concert to shoot down Russian weapons over a member’s territory. He also shares whether he sees this drone incident as a deliberate provocation by Moscow and gives his thoughts on analysts’ claims that these drone incursions are “tests” of NATO’s readiness.
