Mangaluru, August 21, 2025 : St Lawrence English Medium School, Bondel, hosted the Mangalore North Taluk-level Volleyball Tournament with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship. The event witnessed the participation of 24 teams from various zones of the Taluk competing in Under-17 and Under-14 boys' and girls' categories.

The tournament was inaugurated and the newly constructed stage on the school grounds was blessed by Rev. Fr Praveen Leo Lasrado, Secretary of the Catholic Board of Education and President of the event.

Rev. Fr Andrew Leo D'Souza, Joint Secretary and Correspondent of the school, and Mr. James Cutinha, BEO of Mangalore North, attended as chief guests. They inspired the students and expressed gratitude to the school management. Mr. T.K. Rajashekharan, former national-level volleyball player and present state coach, also graced the occasion.

Other dignitaries present as guests of honour included Rev. Fr Lawrence Cutinha (Assistant Parish Priest of Bondel Church), Mrs. Deepika Shetty (CRP, Kavoor Cluster), Mr. Vinod Kumar (Secretary, State Physical Education Association), Mr. Nithin Puthran (President, Physical Education Teachers' Association), Mr. John D'Silva (Vice President, PPC), and Mrs. Reshma Prabhakar (Vice President, PTA).

The gathering was warmly welcomed by the Principal, Rev. Fr Peter Gonsalves, while Mrs. Sharel Shanthi D'Souza, Vice Principal, proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was well compered by Mr. Prasad. Physical Education teachers Mr. Yogesh and Mr. Praveen, along with trainers from across the taluk, coordinated the tournament successfully.

The event concluded on a celebratory note, marking yet another milestone in promoting sportsmanship and teamwork among the youth of the Taluk.
