Mangaluru, Nov 16, 2017 : With an aim to raise funds for DAYA Special Children Day Care Center at Laila in Belthangady, ‘O… La…Re’, a musical show by singers Stephan and Shilpa Cutinha will be held on November 18 at 6.30 pm in the premises of Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail in city.

Other prominent singers Robin Sequeira, Meera Crasta, Gavin Menezes, Carol Sequeira, Levlin Lobo, Denora Fernandes, Leesha D’Silva and young talents Senora, Shanon, Raina, Diona, Alma, Tiyana and Delvina will sing at the event.

The humour element in the show will be kept alive by Nellu Permannur and Team. Nach Sobhann and Derebail talents will enthrall the audience with their dance performances and Roshan D’Souza Angelore will be providing music for the show.

DAYA Special Children Day Care Center

DAYA Special Children Day Care Center was started by the Capuchin fathers of Holy Trinity Province under the banner of Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra in January 2017.

At present over 35 specially- abled children from the surrounding region visit the center to spend their day, learn and partake in activities.

The service at the center begins at 7am where in the vehicle starts to move to bring the children from their houses to the center. The day begins with prayer, exercises and physiotherapy. The various activities that are undertaken are reading and writing practice, speech therapy, group dynamics, medical checkups, physiotherapy, counseling, skill trainings and vocational trainings. Nutritious midday meals are also provided. The center closes at 3 pm and the vehicle drops children to their homes. Besides these daily activities, the staff also visits the families of these children and counsels parents.
The center has an ambulance service which daily takes two trips in the region for the benefit of the sick.

The facilities provided are:

• Basic education to the children- etiquettes, health and hygiene
• Weekly Physiotherapy sessions by physiotherapist
• Monthly Health checkups
• Speech and Hearing Training
• Various Skill trainings
• Nutritious Midday Meal
• Conveyance

Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra

Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra has been working for the development of the poor and the vulnerable children, youth and women from past 40years in the villages of Belthangady, Shivamogga and Mudigere.

It was one of the long felt needs of this region to provide care and support for the vulnerable special children of our area. As per a survey there are more than 100 special children in and around Belthangady Taluk. Among them nearly 70 children are belonging to the poorest families. And these families are unable to provide the most basic training to these vulnerable children. If these children are provided with care and support along with the basic trainings in toilet use, health and hygiene, dress, etiquette, improving health status of these children and some possible training in reading and writing, surely they can live normal human life.
