Mangaluru, Jun 20, 2015 : Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA) in collaboration with ICYM and YCS central council, Mangaluru diocese on Saturday June 20 organized scholarship distribution programme at Jyothi Nivas Hall, Shanthi Kiran, Bajjodi here, for needy and deserving youths of Mangaluru diocese.

A total amount of Rs 11 lac was distributed among 200 needy students of PUC and degree.

The event began with prayer. Fr Henry Sequeira, chancellor of Mangaluru diocese, Fr Peter D’Souza, director of Pastoral Institute, Elias Saldanha, founder president of KCWA, Pascal Monteiro, KCWA representative, Anil Fernandes, former president of KCWA, Elias Sanctis, Naveen Mascarenhas, Fr Ronald D’Souza, director ICYM and YCS/YSM central council, Mangaluru diocese were present on the dais.

Fr Henry Sequeira in his presidential speech said, "People in Kuwait do not offer this scholarship fund because they are rich, but because they save some amount from their earnings and help the poor youth in their education. We should appreciate their courage and concern towards the poor."

Melreeda Rodrigues, president of ICYM Mangaluru diocese welcomed the gathering.

Roshan Lobo, YCS national executive member delivered the vote of thanks.
