In 1969, Sacred Heart Surathkal parish was carved out to form chaplaincy at Mukka with a territorial independent jurisdiction during the tenure of Surathkal parish priest Rev. Fr. Charles Nazareth (7 May 1965 – 11 May 1972 ).
Golden Jubilee celebration of Holy Spirit Church, Mukka :
The golden jubilee of Holy Spirit Church, Mukka was celebrated with a splendid event at the Church grounds on May 4, 2019.
The celebration began with the Holy Mass celebrated by the chief guest of the event Most Rev Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangalore. It was followed by a prayer dance at the church grounds and video presentation with highlights of the jubilee history from 1969-2019 of the Church.
Oscar Fernandes, member of Rajya Sabha, Fr Paul Pinto, vicar vara, Surathkal Varado, J R Lobo, former MLA, Mangalore South constituency, Sr Sandhya, SND provincial superior, parish priest Fr Cyril Pinto, Fr Herald D’Souza , Fr Norbert Lobo and others were on the dais.
Exceptional beneficiaries of the church , former parish priests, other priests and nuns were honoured for their exemplary service.
Oscar Fernandes released the church magazine. Oscar Fernandes, Sr Sandhya, J R Lobo and Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha addressed the gathering. Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha and parish priest Fr Cyril Pinto were felicitated by the dignitaries on the dais.
