Shamboor parish is carved from Borimar parish. Because of the long distance to Borimar, the people wanted to build a chapel here. Hence Fr Peter Fernandes of Borimar initiated the construction of a chapel here and completed it in 1993.
The chapel was raised to the status of parish in 1998.
