Mangaluru, Aug 1 : "The great aim of education is not knowledge but action." 

The Cultural Evening with the Annual General Body meeting highlighting the theme "New Era of Action -2022" was held on 19th July 2022, with great glorification and gaiety at St Agnes CBSE School. It was a day to remember with the weather favouring the success of the event.

The dignitaries invited were Chief guest Dr. Aloysius Sequeira former Professor, Dean and Registrar NITK Surathkal, The Guest of Honour Mrs Deepali Shenoy Business Manager Karnataka ARIV Education and Sr. Dr. Lydia Fernandes AC the Joint Secretary of the Institutions, PTA Vice President Jane Saldanha, the sisters of the congregation and the Parents.

The Grandeur inauguration began with the school band escorting the dignitaries to the venue at St Agnes College Auditorium followed by the melodious voices of the opening chorus sung by the students. A mesmerising welcome dance was presented by the students. Sr Maria Gracilda AC gave a cheerful welcome to all gathered for the event. The programme continued with a visual presentation of the Annual Report of 2020-21and 2021-22 which gave a brief glimpse of what the school had achieved amidst the pandemic. Another significance of the day was the Launching of the New School Website which was formally inaugurated by the chief guest.

The grade X toppers of 2020-21 batch were honoured along with their parents. The toppers of the individual subjects were honoured too.
To lighten the mood a captivating performance depicting the nature’s beauty was presented by the students of grade V and VI. A dance drama – ‘Samskara’- the way of life was presented by the senior grade students.

The chief guest in his speech recalled the inspiration he got from Tilly Smith, a small girl who warned everyone regarding the 2004 Tsunami showing that the power of education on young minds makes a difference. He advised the teachers to focus their teaching on experiential learning and touch the heart of every child who is entrusted under her care. An important advice was also given to the parents to demonstrate values through doing and to have the ability to communicate with the child along with being constant motivators to them was stressed upon.

Mrs Deepali Shenoy the guest of honour on the other hand mentioned in her speech not to compare children but to embrace and strengthen them as they are. Failure always accompanies life; take it as a challenge and move forward accordingly, was accentuated to all.
Sr Lydia Fernandes AC too gave her words of wisdom and spoke of the connectivity of students, parents’ teachers to be working as one team.

The event continued with inaugurating the School Welfare Committee and Child Protection committee with giving a brief insight of its importance and the formal selection of the committee members. In the end the school anthem was played marking the closure of the programme.

The event was hosted by Teachers Reena Monteiro and Supreetha. Sr Sweedal Fernandes AC proposed the vote of thanks expressing gratitude profoundly for everyone for their wonderful participation. Refreshments were served at the end of the programme.
The Management congratulates the Principal, teachers and students for making this event a grand success and congratulates the newly appointed members for the welfare committee.
