Udupi, Aug 20 : The Sisters of St Cecily’s community, Udupi celebrated with thanks and joy, the golden jubilee of the religious profession of Sr. Maria Alexina A.C. on 18th August 2019. 

The celebration began with the morning prayer, offering praise and thanks to the Lord. At 11 a.m, the thanksgiving Mass was celebrated by V. Rev. Fr Valerian Mendonca, Parish Priest, Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi, with three concelebrants, V. Rev. Fr Roshan Menezes, OFM, Cap., the Episcopal vicar for religious , Udupi diocese, Fr Ravi Rajesh, OFM, Cap., and Fr William Martis.

Sr. Maria Alexina shared the day’s joy with 7 of her family members from Goa, sisters from different Apostolic Carmel communities, priests of Udupi parish, ACA members, friends, well wishers and staff members of St Cecily’s Institutions.

The felicitation function commenced with a beautiful dance by our aspirants. Sr. Maria Vibha A.C., the Superior, welcomed the guests. The jubilarian shared the sweetness of her very special day by cutting the cake along with her batch mates present. She was greeted with a garland by Sr Julie Anne, the provincial councillor, Sr. Maria Vibha and Mr. Paul Alphonso, her cousin.

Mr Alphonso and Ms. Rhea, her grand niece greeted her on behalf of the family. Sr. Jenifer DSouza presented words of felicitation, summarising the devoted and service oriented life of Sr. Maria Alexina. The community sisters and the ACA’s greeted her with melodious greeting songs. Fr Valerian Mendonsa, Fr Roshan Menezes and Sr. Julie Anne spoke in appreciation and congratulated Sr Alexina for her fruitful years of religious consecration.

Finally Sr. Maria Alexina expressed her sentiments of gratitude to one and all, who were and are a part of her life. Sr Jecintha D’Sa compered the programme. The formal programme concluded with a fellowship meal.
