Senegal , Sept 20, 2017 : The feast of Our Lady of Dolores i.e. 15th of September was a red letter day for Bethany this year. It is on this day that the 182nd Bethany community was erected in Senegal, West Africa in the diocese of Thies by Bethany Superior General Sr Rose Celine in the presence Sr Shanti Priya, her Councillor; Mgr André Gueye, the Bishop of Thies, a number of priests hailing from the Same diocese and from Nouakchott, sisters from different Congregations, parishioners and well wishers. All the 10 sisters from the communities of Nouakchott and Nouadhibou, Mauritania and from St Louis, Sénégal, were present for the occasion. The whole diocese of Thies manifested their joy by being present in large numbers, by their beautiful choir, by the delicious meal, wishes and gifts. It was indeed a beautiful sight to behold.

‘We want vocations and we count on you dear faithful of Thies’ was the clarion call given by our Superior General as she thanked the gathering and honoured the important persons. God has chosen Sr Jeena, the Superior; Sr Molly Anna and Sr Maria Pushpam to represent Bethany effectively in this place.

Sr Rose Celine, Bethany Superior General along with her councillor Sr Shanti Priya was on canonical visitation in Mauritania and Senegal and the days that preceded the erection of the community, all the four communities came together for two days session in Mbour, Sénégal.
