Mangaluru, May 29 : The whole world is facing the danger of Covid second wave which has badly hit humanity. There is chaos and confusion, fear and anxiety in each and every family. Paying heed to the words of Jesus, “Just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me” (Mt 25:40) Ursuline Franciscan Sisters, Mangalore Province, under the initiatives of Sr Rita Vas, Provincial Superior, Shanthidham, Derlakatte, Sr Vijaya D’Souza, Superior Mother of Mercy Convent, and Sr Enet D’Souza, Headmistress, St Joseph’s Higher Primary School Fajir, carried out the distribution of food kits to the needy, poor student’s families on 29th May 2021.

The students of St Joseph’s Higher Primary School, (Kannada Medium), Fajir are coming from a distance for their basic education. Sr Enet D’Souza HM had mentioned about a few families of their students who are facing a lot of difficulties these days to have their livelihood. When she expressed this to the Provincial Superior and the Team, they were willing to do these humanitarian deeds to the families of Fajir, Mudipu, Pavoor and other villages around without minding the caste. Food kits containing rice, sugar, tea powder, oil, sweets etc (costing about 1,000) were given to almost 45 families. Though there was pouring rain as a blessing, still people had come, which means there are people in the locality including a few students of the school who need Sisters' support because they are in dire need. Sr Enet D’Souza, Headmistress, expressed sincere gratitude to Provincial Superior for this gesture of kindness. She too in turn thanked God for enabling them to show mercy and compassion to those who are in need. Sisters of Mother of Mercy Convent Fajir too shared their might in helping these families of their locality.
