Mangaluru, April 18 : 17th April 2021 need to be marked in golden letters as 8 sisters of Ursuline Franciscan Congregation, Mangalore Province celebrated the golden jubilee of Religious Profession at Shanthi Dham Provincialate, Derlakatte. Rev. Fr Gerry Lobo OFM officiated the Eucharistic Celebration. In his homily Fr Gerry Lobo highlighted the fruitful years of service in the vineyard of God by the Jubilarians. He said to find Jesus not in the Tabernacle but in the helpless and neglected people around and to find the kingdom in every person and place wherever we are.

After the Mass, felicitation programme was held. Sr Susheela Monteiro the Superior of Shanthi Dham Convent welcomed the members on this occasion. Along with V Rev Sr Susheela Sequeira Superior General, Rev. Sr Rita Vas Provincial Superior were present on the dais. Rev Sr Susheela greeted them by saying that the sisters have a joy of fulfilment, joy and satisfaction of reaching this milestone of life’s journey. Having said the qualities of each Jubilarian she urged the sisters gathered for the celebration to take home and live the faith with which the Jubilarians said ‘Yes’ and have a glow of that light which lighted their path, to imbibe their happy, smiling, joyful, loving and serving qualities. After which the Jubilarians were honoured with shawl and garland.

Sr Rita Vas applauded them for their vigorous zeal to follow the Lord through Religious life for the past 50 years. She acknowledged their grateful services towards the Church, Society and to the Congregation. They indeed are the faithful stewards of the Lord in the garden of UFS. Along with the Councillors she too felicitated the Jubilarians with shawl, garland and memento.

Srs Sushma Luis and Josline D’Souza compeered the days programme. Shanthi Dham Community sisters greeted the golden sisters with a melodious jubilee song and added joy to everyone who gathered for the celebration. Jubilee meal was the climax of the day. The Sisters of the Province graced the occasion.
