Mangaluru, Jan 7, 2015 : The glorious event of the golden jubilee of St Gerosa school has a fabulous legacy. The jubilee year was inaugurated on January 16, 2014, which had a number of events round the year. At the end of the jubilee year there was a solemn thanksgiving Eucharistic celebration on January 3,2015. The Bishop of Mangalore Dr Aloysius Paul was the main celebrant and many other priests joined for the concelebration.The Bishop appreciated the work done in imparting knowledge to thousands of students and wished good luck.

On January 5 morning there was marathon race from Valencia Church to the school ground. On this occasion the Carena Stadium was inaugurated by BEO Sri Jnanesh and blessed by Fr James D’souza Parish Priest Valencia Church.

The long awaited grand finale was held on January 5, 2015. The dignitaries were brought to the dais in procession by our gerosain band and beautifully dressed flower girls. The programme was presided over by Dr Matilda Monteiro, the president of our Educational Institution.

Our guest of honor Ivan D’souza, Member of Karnataka Legislative Council, Nalin Kumar Kateel Member of parliament, Fr Joseph Martis , Rector , St Joseph’s seminary Mangaluru, Ashok Mendonsa the Architect of CARENA , Building Contractor Purushotham Kottari, Sr.Grace Joseph, Secretary –Sisters of Charity Educational Society, Sr Marcelline Braggs the Correspondent, Sr Emma Aranha High School HM and Fr Denis D’Sa Director of the Ballet ‘Seva Sangam’. Their presence on the dais added beauty and dignity to the celebration.

Sr Matilda Monteiro appreciated the staff for giving qualitative education to the students and for shaping their personality. MLC Ivan D’souza said, ‘An Institution celebrating 50 years is a biggest achievement. He who was closely associated with this Institution complemented the sisters of Charity for the yeomen service to the society. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel praised the Christian community for tremendous contribution in the educational field and wished all the success for the

U T Khadar (Ex-Student) Honorable Minister for Health and Family Welfare ,Govt.of Karnataka ,Sri Ramanatha Rai Honorable minister for forest, Ecology and Enviornment,Govt.of Karnataka, J.R.Lobo MLA Mangalore South, and Sri Walter D’Mello KES.D.D.P.I Dakshina Kannada who were unable to attend the Grand Finale due to unavoidable circumstances, have sent their good wishes and words of appreciation.

The dignitaries on the dais were felicitated and honored during this occasion and mementoes were presented. The Ballet ‘Seva Sangam’ lyrics were written by Sumukanand Jalvalli, Directed by Fr Denis D’Sa ,Co-ordinated by Fr JBSaldanha , Drama Directed by Fr Leo Lasrado and Fr Clifford Fernades ,assisted by Sr Marcelline Sr Emma Aranha, choreographed by Mary Bini Prakash Mahadeven and Juliet Rodrigues, was a grand success, which enthralled the audience and received a huge and roaring applause.

Audience treasured in their hearts the message and service of St.Gerosa School down through the 50 Golden years. The jubilee song which was composed by Fr.Ronnie Serrao was a heart throbbing moment to recall with gratitude the joyful past memorable years.

Hats off to all the artists who have done their best to bring out this memorable Ballet ‘Seva Sangam’.The Ex-teachers, ofriends and all who witnessed have appreciated that this Ballet .To quote their words “it was a unique, remarkable Ballet which moved us and touched our hearts”. The Ballet has displayed values which were lived in the bygone years and which the modern world too needs to uphold.

Everyone had a sense of joy and satisfaction for having seen such a documentary. The programme ended with the School Anthem.
