Belthangady, Sep 1 : Indian Catholic Youth Movement Madanthyar Unit along with Indian Catholic Youth Movement Belthangady Deanery Organized “RANG MANCH 2K23 – Konkani Samkruthicho Sambhram” on Sunday, 27 August 2023 at Sacred Heart Church Hall, Madanthyar.

The inaugural Ceremony commenced at 10.30 am by seeking God's blessings through a prayer song.

Stany Goveas – Director of ICYM Madanthyar Unit, Fr.William Dsouza –Assistant Director, Madanthyar; Fr.Jerome Dsouza –Principal of Sacred Heart PU College, Madanthyar; Fr.Deepak Dsa – Principal of Sacred Heart English Medium School, Madanthyar ; Fr. Praveen Dsouza – Director of ICYM Belthangady Deanery, Mr Nelson Lasrado –Secretary, Parish Council Madanthyar; Mr Richard Moras - Coordinator of all commissions, Madanthyar, Mr William Sequeira – Animator, Madanthyar Unit; Sushanth Fernandes - Treasurer ,I.C.Y.M Mangalore diocese; Elvin Prashanth Dcunha - President,I.C.Y.M Belthangady Deanery; Ajay Rodrigues, Lavita Lobo - Vice President and Secretary of I.C.Y.M Belthangady Deanery; Josvita Dsouza –President,Melroy Miranda –Secretary, Ashwini Fernandes –Cultural secretary of Madanthyar Unit; Mr Rahul Pinto, Ms Delitia Assumpta Pereira and Mr Alister Lasrado, judges of the day were present on the dais.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The celebration of Konkani culture was inaugurated by pouring rice into a traditional wooden pot by the dignitaries as a symbol of Newly cultivated rice of the season. Fr.Stany Goveas spoke on how the old traditions were celebrated and how the traditions have evolved overtime. Team Osmitay promoted their upcoming Konkani movie followed by the deanery badge launch. Dishal Pinto compered the inaugural program.

After the Inauguration, the Competition of Procession on Konkani culture was conducted Unit wise. Various antique items showcasing rich Konkani cultural heritage were used in the procession by the participants. The same valuable collections used for the procession were then arranged for the next competition of Exhibition on Konkani culture.

Post lunch, various cultural competitions were carried out. Through the program the participants showcased the richness of the Konkani culture. The executive members of ICYM Belthangady Deanery had put up a stall as a fundraising campaign. Later, The Deanery launched the official you tube channel.

After the competitions, the valedictory program was held, compered by Rose Priya Pinto. Fr Stany Goveas, Fr William Dsouza, Fr Anil Avild Lobo – YCS Director of Belthangady Deanery, Fr Parveen Dsouza, Fr. John Baptist Moras – Director, ICYM Indabettu, Mr.Mithesh Dsouza – President, I.C.Y.M Mangalore Diocese, Ms.Willma Lobo – Secretary, I.C.Y.M Mangalore Diocese, Ms Lianna Rodgrigues –Representative, Belthangady Deanery, Sushanth Fernandes, Mr William Sequeira, Elvin Prashanth Dcunha, Lavita Lobo, Ajay Rodrigues, Veena Corda, Josvita Dsouza and Melroy Miranda were present on the dais.

Elvin Prashanth D'cunha, welcomed the guests and the gathering.

Sushanth Fernandes was facilitated for being elected as the Treasurer of ICYM Mangalore diocese and also Ms.Lianna Rodrigues was warmly welcomed to the Deanery as the representative with the facilitation. A congratulatory talk was given by Mr. Mithesh D'Souza, followed by a talk by Fr. Anil motivating the youth to honour, uphold and to keep the Konkani culture alive. One of the judges, Ms.Delita Perira Shared her opinion on what could be improved in the upcoming competition.

The winners list was read out by Veena Corda, Deanery cultural secretary.

The winners of the competition were : 

A) Procession competition :
1st Place - Madanthyar
2nd Place - Arva.

B) Exhibition competition:
1st Place - Madanthyar
2nd Place - Manjotti

C) Cultural Competition:
1st Place - Belthangady
2nd Place - Arva.

And the overall championship was bagged by Madanthyar Unit.

This amazing program came to an end with the Baila dance.
Around 250 young and enthusiastic crowd of the deanery witnessed the richness of Konkani culture.
