Gurpur - Kaikamba, Oct 5 : ICYM - PYC Gurpur and the Youth Commission members exhibited a Street Play on 1st October 2023 after the Eucharistic Mass at 8:45 AM in front of the Our Lady of Pompei Church Gurpur Kaikamba to create awareness among the youth and all the parishioners about the importance of prohibiting the usage of drugs. Parish Priest and ICYM-PYC Director Rev. Fr. Rudolf Ravi D'sa, Parish Pastoral Council Vice President Mr. Romans Lobo, Secretary Mr. Johnson Lobo, Parish 21 Commissions Coordinator Mrs. Hilda Menezes and 600 parishioners witnessed this street play. The main message of this street play is to "SAY NO TO DRUGS". The Parish Priest appreciated the youth for exhibiting this beautiful awareness - street play. The complete responsibility of the Street Play was taken by the Youth Commission Member Aroma Peris.

On the same day, many other parish commissions along with the Lions Club, Gurpur-Kaikamba, Youth Commission and ICYM-PYC Gurpur organized an Anti-Drug Awareness talk for the Parishioners. Professor Sripathi Bhat - Fr. Mullers - Counselor of De-Addiction Center was the resource person for this awareness talk. The resource person explained the effects of taking drugs, prohibition of the usage of drugs and how to change your life back to normal if the person is a victim of drugs.

Later, prizes of Slogan and short video competitions were awarded by Rev. Fr. Rudolf Ravi D'sa. ICYM - PYC members pledged to keep their hand off the drugs and sang a song called “NO NO DRUGS”. ICYM-PYC and youth committee member Rishal Noronha was the Master of Ceremony for this Anti-Drug Awareness Camp.

Around 200 parishioners participated in this event. Both the events Street Play and the Anti-Drug Awareness camp were a grand success.
