Mangaluru, April 4 : We are Easter people and Alleluia is our song- In other words, every day of our lives must be lived continuing the Miracle of Love. The Solemnity of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ was commemorated with elation and devotion at Neermarga Parish on 3rd April 2021 at 7 p.m.

The service initiated on the darkened grounds as fire was kindled and blessed.

The Paschal Candle, a symbol of the light of Christ through his resurrection, was lit. The Paschal Candle led everyone to the Altar and individual candles were lit. The Exsultet, the great hymn that calls on all of creation to rejoice, was sung by Rev Fr Antony Michael Shera, Secretary CBE, Diocese of Mangalore. Scripture readings followed -The Genesis reading underscored God’s incredible work of creation and reminded that creation and recreation continue every day. Readings from Exodus accentuated how God chose Israel to be His own people and appointed Moses to deliver the Israelites, Readings from Isaiah and Ezekiel gave a wakeup call to live a Grace -filled life.

The Eucharistic Celebration was celebrated by Rev Fr Antony Michael Shera and concelebrated by Rev Fr Joachim Fernandes and Rev Fr Anil D Mello. The Epistle from Paul to the Romans aided the Laity to recall that they have died to sin and have been raised to new life in Jesus Christ; that all have “passed over” from darkness to light. Rev Fr Antony Michael Shera, in his homily said “Jesus is the centre of salvation. Live in the light and not in the darkness and embrace new life by being slow to anger, give prime importance to Family Prayers, to be generous in words and deeds, shine as oases of peace”. It was indeed a thought-provoking sermon.

The liturgy continued with the blessing of the water and the renewal of baptismal vows. On the whole the congregation experienced the miracle of love- The Resurrection of Jesus. Under the auspices of Rev Fr Anil D Mello the entire Liturgy was meticulously planned and organised.

Mr Maurice Renjal compered the ceremony. Rev Fr Anil in his sweet flowing words proposed the Vote of Thanks.
