Puttur, July 30 : In order to be cognizant of the dignity and importance of work and to encourage the people to bear witness to Christ at the workplace, Labour Day was celebrated at Mai De Deus Church, Puttur on 30 July 2023. It was jointly organized by the commission for labour and St Vincent De Paul society with the cooperation of CLC, Stree Sanghatan, Commission for family, Commission for Justice, Peace, Commission for health and Commission for social development.

The day began with the Holy Eucharistic Celebration. Rev. Fr Vincent D'Souza, Director CODP presided over the Eucharistic celebration.

After the Holy Eucharistic Celebration, a programme was held at the church hall. Programme began with a prayer. Mr John Dsouza, Coordinator of 21 commissions welcomed the gathering. Mr Jerald D'Costa, vice president of PPC presented the introductory speech. Then V. Rev. Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas, the Parish priest addressed the gathering highlighting the dignity of work. Thereafter, Rev. Fr Vincent D'Souza, the chief guest delivered the speech and explained the importance and dignity of work. He also encouraged the people to bear witness to Christ at the workplace through honesty.

Mrs Meera Mascarenhas, secretary of commission for labour proposed the vote of thanks. Mr Sherry Mascarenhas compered the programme.
