Moodbidri, March 31, 2024: Good Friday is a significant day in the Christian calendar, commemorating the remembrance of Jesus' crucifixion and death. The world across, people observe Good Friday with deep passion and grief.

The Good Friday service in St Francis Xavier Church, Saverapura commenced at 5 p.m. on March 29 with Rev Fr Vivek Colaco leading the service. He was accompanied by parish priest Rev Fr Noel Mascarenhas and Rev Fr Rohit Dcosta.

The Good Friday Service was divided into four segments - First, reading of passages from Holy Scriptures including the Passion of Christ from the Gospel of St. John the Evangelist, Solemn prayers for the intentions of the Holy Church, Unveiling and Veneration of the Crucifix and Holy Communion.

The Church choir added a significant role in making the ceremony meaningful and prayerful.


Way of the Cross

In the morning at 8am, ICYM Saverapura conducted the Good Friday Way of the Cross in a unique way under the guidance of the Parish priest. The stations of the Cross started near Joseph Monis' house and the faithful went in a procession to the church meditating 14 stations of the cross.
