Easter Vigil celebration at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Hiriyur

Hiriyur - Chitradurga, April 10, 2023 : Easter Vigil celebrated at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Hiriyur, Chitradurga District, Diocese of Shimoga.

Faithful gathered at 11am on April 8 in front of the Church. Parish Priest Fr Franklin D'Souza began their Easter Vigil by blessing the fire. He blessed the Easter Candle and led the procession to the Church. Then the Exultant was sung.

There were 9 readings. 7 from the Old Testament and Two from the New Testament.

In his homily Fr Franklin D'Souza explained about the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. He said that the resurrection of Jesus is the foundation of our faith.

Then the blessing of the baptismal font took place. Then the Communion rite took place.

Liturgy concluded at 2am.

Fr Franklin D’Souza thanked the parishioners who helped in making this whole week a successful one.
