Mangaluru, Sep 21, 2022 : "A rose in hand expresses volumes of emotions to every soul."

The World recognises 22nd September as World Rose Day- Welfare of Cancer Patients. This day has its importance because of Melinda Rose hailing from Canada who suffered this deadly disease at the age of 12. Despite her own sufferings she tried to bring hope and cheer in other patients’ life in whatever way she could to beat this deadly disease. Every year on this day in her memory we commemorate World Rose Day.

St Agnes too recognised this day very meaningfully by paying a visit to Ave Maria Hospice Palliative Care Centre Mangalore. The students of grade VII around 20 of them accompanied by their teachers spent a fruitful time with the 6 inmates who are diagnosed in this centre under the care of around 17 nurses who look after the patients.

The students conducted a prayer service, entertained the inmates with action songs and offered each one a rose. It was a joy to find a smile on each one of them despite the suffering. The school contributed a cheque of Rs 10000/- with fruits and snacks to the inmates.
Some activities such as creating a paper rose, collage with articles of world cancer day, preparation of thankyou cards to the service providers etc. was conducted to the students to mark the importance of the day.

The Management, the Administrator and the Principal congratulate the teachers for conducting a meaningful event.

"Let’s pray for all the sufferings of the patients and may God grant grace to them."
