Mangaluru, Sep 14 : "My Body is precious. I shall nurture and nourish it daily."

The Department of Physiotherapy of Father Muller Medical College in association with Mangalore Round Table 115 and Mangalore Ladies Circle 82 organised a wellness drive “At work, at play let good posture lead the way”. This drive was conducted in many of the city schools from 1st Sept to 8th Sept, 2022.

The team visited the campus of St Agnes CBSE school on 5th Sept to educate the children on this meaningful topic. The students of grade IIIrd to VII participated in this session.

The resource persons were Ms Aishwarya Gatty, a faculty and Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapist and Ms Reshell R Fernandez Lecturer and Geriatric Physiotherapist at Father Muller Medical College Mangalore. The other dignitaries were Mr. Haron Fernandes, Chairman of Mangalore Round Table 115 and Ms Monisha D’souza Chairperson of Mangalore Ladies Club 82.

For the students of Grade IIIrd to V the session was conducted by Ms Aishwarya who enthralled the students on the topic how to keep up a rightful posture and protect the body from further ailments. She emphasised the need for a staple diet which is necessary to the growing body. A few tips were also shared to the students to keep the body fit and healthy and the right way to carry the school bag was stressed.

For the students of VI and VII the session presenter Ms Reshell too gave a couple of tips on healthy body and growing changes. A rightful posture is a key to a healthy body was stressed upon. Tips were also shared to maintain a well-groomed body. A skit on healthy eating and exercise was enacted by the students of final year BPT of Father Muller Medical College.

The programme was compered by teachers Manisha and Chetana along with a formal welcome by Anvi of grade V. Teacher Clara and Nishka of grade VI proposed the Vote of thanks extending gratitude to the wonderful participation of everyone gathered.

The Wellness drive team expressed their gratitude to the Principal for giving the wonderful opportunity to present the session. The session was brought to a closure with answering a few queries of the students.
