The World recognises two important days on 19th August, the Humanitarian Day and Photography Day. It’s a day to celebrate and honour individuals who indulge in Humanitarian work. It is also marked to celebrate the contribution of humanitarian volunteers who work relentlessly for a cause. On this day, volunteers who have died or injured themselves while at work are also paid tributes.

With regard to Photography Day, In the year 1826, French photographer, Joseph Nicephore Niepce had taken the first permanent photograph of all time.

"Details create a big picture" Photography is not just an art but an application of durable images that capture emotions and moments.

The day was commemorated with a meaningful prayer service by thanking all the volunteers who provide their selfless service and doing a noble cause for humanity. To mark this occasion the students of grade VIIIC along with their teachers Nayana Fernandes and Sonia D’Souza visited ‘Hongirana’ in Bendur Mangalore, a home for the aged. They spent some valuable time with the inmates by entertaining them with songs and games. Prizes were given to the winners by the students from their generous contribution. The inmates too were cheerful and lively and created an aura of fun and happiness. The nurses who provide their selfless service in this home were honoured at this juncture. The school and the students contributed provisions as a part of charity to the in-charge members of the home.
