Mangaluru, Aug 11, 2022 : Our nation’s 75th Independence Day was celebrated by the primary students of St Theresa’s School.

‘Independence is not freedom, it’s a responsibility'. The students of grade 4B and 4C celebrated Independence Day with much splendour, enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. Dr. Rohan Monis , Chief Medical Officer at Kanachur Health Science was the chief guest of the program. The school correspondent graced the program along with the school principal Sr Lourdes and vice principal Sr Caron. The teaching and non teaching staff and the students of grade 3 to 5 also got to witness this colourful Independence Day program which had an apt theme - ‘Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav’.

The program began with a short prayer service invoking the divine blessings of God on the gathering. The students were dressed in the tri colours of our national flag, which spread the spirit of patriotism amongst the audience in the beginning of the program itself. The prayer service was followed by a formal welcome speech and all the dignitaries were welcomed with a flower plant each.

This was followed by a spectacular cultural program where the students paid tribute to the martyrs by means of song and dance presentations. The patriotic song awakened everyone’s feelings towards the motherland. A student representative enlightened and refreshed the audience about the significance of the day.

The chief guest, Dr Rohan Monis, addressed the gathering and started his inspiring talk by narrating an interesting story about our national flag. He connected very well with the students in the gathering and told them the amazing story of our independence in a very unique way. He stressed on the importance of giving respect to our freedom fighters, our Army, Air Force and Navy personnel.

The program ended with a student giving the vote of thanks and the singing of the national anthem. It was indeed a day where everyone felt the inner need to contribute towards making our country a better place for everyone to live and experience the freedom, peace and unity in diversity.
