Mangaluru , Jul 19 : Musician Vanil Veigas from the city, has received the prestigious GRAMMYⓇ Award for his contribution in the album "Divine Tides" by Ricky Kej and Stewart Copeland (The Police).

The album won the GRAMMYⓇ Award in 'Best New Age Album' category. The award was announced on 4th April 2022 in Las Vegas.

Vanil has received his GRAMMYⓇ statuette for his contribution as Engineer/Mixer for 'Divine Tides'. This makes him the second GRAMMYⓇ Award Winner from Karnataka and the first ever GRAMMYⓇ winner from Mangaluru.

Vanil was born in Ullal, Mangaluru. He started his musical journey in early 2000 playing music for several bands in Mangaluru. Moved to Bangalore in 2007, he has worked on several movie soundtracks, over 3000 commercials, 16 studio albums, including 3 GRAMMYⓇ winning albums.

Ricky Kej and Vanil worked together on the epic "Divine Tides" with the living legend Stewart Copeland and through this album he won his first GRAMMYⓇ Award.
