Mumbai, Sept 22 : Christian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCCI) held its 14th award function on Saturday, 21st September 2019 at Hotel Kohinoor, Andheri (east) here.

Joint commissioner of professional taxes Dr David Thomas Alvares was the chief guest and handed over annual awards of CCCI to the winners. President of the program Rt. Rev. Monsignor Varghese Mattamana spoke on the occasion.

Chairman of CCCI, Mr. Antony Sequeira, in his welcome speech expressed his gratefulness to everyone who strove for CCCI during the year. During the past year, CCCI has organised many informative monthly business seminars on various topics of current relevance. It is an effort by the Chamber to keep its members updated on varied subjects which will help them in their business. He made a humble request to all the members to attend and take full advantage of such seminars.

This year the organisation has made tie-ups with various organisations for the benefit of the member of the CCCI such as

  • NM medical / SRL diagnostics / Dr. Lal Path Labs and suburban diagnostics wherein member and their families can get 50-60% discount on annual packages.
  • OYO group of hotels in order to provide competitive rates and other value additions.
  • Vakil search which is a technology powered platform for all legal, compliance and accounting matters. They extend fund raising support as a service to businesses.
  • Sparkle Salon and SPA which is located at Malad and offers 25% discount for members of CCCI and to their family members (only for women).
  • OLA cabs : Members can enjoy priority bookings and upgrades. No cancellation charges. Charges will be point to point instead of Garage to Garage billing.

Mr. Vincent Mathias and family of Velvin Paper Products were also felicitated for bagging Global Recognition at World Corrugated Award 2019 in Shanghai China. The said company was nominated for the category, new factory planning category and bagged 2nd award. It was the only Indian company nominated in this category.

CCCI Founder Chairman Vincent Mathias, Immediate Past Chairman Henry Lobo, CCCI awards committee convener John D'Silva, Vice Chairman Albert W D'Souza and John Mathew, were present on the dais.

The awardees, reciprocating to the honour bestowed upon them, praised the functioning style of CCCI, which happens to be a premier Christian body.

The other dignitaries and conveners of different sub-committees, other office bearers, and a large number of members with family, were present at the function.

Mrs. Priya Clyde Andrades compered the programme. Agnello Rajesh Athaide proposed the vote of thanks.

During the intermission, artistes of Sangeet Abhinay Academy presented cultural dance directed by Fr Charles Vas.

Name of the awardee - Commodore Valentine Sequeira VSM I.N. (Retd)

Commodore Valentine Sequeira along with his team commissioned the first Indian designed and built frigate INS Godavari in December 1983 and INS Gomati in October 1984. After his appointment as the director of naval architecture in 1994, he was promoted to the Commodore rank in the navy. Post his retirement from the Indian Navy in September 2005, he worked with the Bharati Shipyard Ltd as President for 10 years.

Charles Vas has produced about 40 albums of audio cds of devotional music : Bhajans and Hymns, which have enriched the Church singing in different languages. Fr. Charles Vas was awarded “Alankar Shiromani Puraskar” in 2006 and “Kolakar Puraskar” in 2008 for his excellence and outstanding contribution in the field of music and dance. Currently Dr. Fr. Charles Vas is the director of SangeetAbhinay Academy - a religious institution of song and dance in Mumbai which he founded in 1980.
