Mangaluru, Sep 28 : The two day International Conference on the theme Business Resilience in turbulent global markets was organised by the Post Graduate Department of Commerce, St Agnes College (Autonomous) Mangaluru on 24 and 25 September 2018. The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Gilbert Nduru - Director of International programme for Linkage and Research, Karatina University, Kenya. The Key note Speaker for the conference was Dr. Prasanna Chandra - Retired Professor of IIM- Bangalore. Mr. Vishwa Nath Goel, Chairman - Shivam Holdings Pvt Ltd. was the chief guest for the inaugural function. The inaugural programme was presided by Sr. Dr. Jeswina A.C - Principal St Agnes College, Dr. Catherine N Rao - Conference Convener welcomed the gathering and Mrs. Dolan Banerjee, Co-Convener compered the programme.

In his key note address, Dr. Prasanna Chandra spoke on business resilience of various multinational corporations like Berkshire Hathaway, TCS and various several Indian companies like Reliance group, Maruti Suzuki etc that has been resistant through the years. Dr. Chandra also emphasized on various financial debacles caused by mergers and acquisition all over the world. In the inaugural address Dr. Gilbert discussed the various facts of academic linkage programs and spoke about the relevance of the topic of the business resilience and the challenges faced by the corporates across the world. The chief guest Mr. Vishwa Nath Goel said that if there’s no turbulence in your business the implication is that your business is heading towards extinction. Thus turbulence in business is absolutely necessary for business health. The President of the function Sr Dr Jeswina AC commended the conference organizers for providing opportunities for deliberation on topic of risk management and disaster recovery, crisis management and currency volatility which threatens a company towards extinction.

The highlight of the Conference was the Memorandum of Understanding signed by St. Agnes College (Autonomous) with the Karatina University, Kenya. A total of 300 delegates participated.
