Puttur, Feb 11 : On the occasion of Diamond Jubilee Celebrations, PG Department of Mathematics of St Philomena College here organized One Day National Symposium on ‘Recent Trends in Number Theory and its Applications’ on February 2, 2018 in PG Centre Seminar Hall.

The Professor Emeritus, Department of Mathematics, University of Mysore Dr. Ramaswamy H N inaugurated the Symposium and delivered the key note address. He said, ‘Mathematics is the Queen of all Sciences. The Number theory is the Queen of Mathematics. It is a vibrant area of Mathematical Research having many practical applications.’

The Campus Director and Chairman of Centre for PG Studies Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro participated as the guest of honour. The Principal Prof. Leo Noronha expressed his best wishes. The Correspondent Very Rev. Fr Alfred J Pinto presided over the programme.

Ms. Crystal Jyothipriya D’Souza and team presented the prayer song. The Coordinator of the PG Department of Mathematics and Symposium Prof. Ganesh Bhat K welcomed the gathering. The Assistant Professor Mr. Prasanna H M proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Ananya V compered the programme.

In the technical sessions, Dr Somashekhara D D and Dr Chandrashekhara Adiga, Professors of Department of Mathematics, Mysore University participated as the resource persons.

In the evening, a special Felicitation Programme was organized to felicitate Dr S Parameshwara Bhatta, Professor Emeritus, Department of Mathematics, Mangalore University, who superannuated recently. The HoD of Mathematics Prof. Udaya K and Former Principal of Sri Bhuvanendra College Karkala Prof. Padmanabha Gowda delivered felicitation speech. The Professor Emeritus, Department of Mathematics, University of Mysore Dr. Ramaswamy H N released the Profile of Dr Parameshwara Batta and expressed the words of fragrance. As a reply to the felicitation, Dr Parameshwara Bhatta expressed his feelings. The Campus Director and Chairman of Centre for PG Studies Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro participated as the chief guest. The Principal Prof. Leo Noronha delivered presidential address.
