Puttur , March 17 : The Department of Science, in collaboration with IQAC and IIC of the College, inaugurated the College Science Forum on March 16, 2024, at the PG Seminar Hall. Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, the Principal of the college, presided over the event. Dr R. Ramachandra Rao, Retired Scientist from the Material Science Division of CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories, Bangalore, participated as the guest of honor and resource person for the day. Rev. Fr Stany Pinto graced the occasion as the chief guest.

The program commenced with the inauguration by the esteemed guests, followed by an inspiring address by Dr R. Ramachandra Rao, who recollected about his college days at St Philomena College and encouraged students to engage in scientific writing. His talk on ‘Advanced Ceramics for Multidimensional Applications: From Science to Technology’ captivated the audience.

Rev.Fr Stany Pinto, Campus Director enlightened the students about the vast opportunities in the field of science, emphasizing its importance for their future.
Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Principal of the College, in his presidential remarks stressed the significance of cultivating a scientific temperament, urging students to delve into the subject with interest and dedication, thereby mastering it. He emphasized the importance of effective communication of knowledge and sensitivity to the world around them.

The prize distribution ceremony for various competitions organized by the Science Forum was conducted by Dr Malini K, the Dean of Science. Shilpa and her team from III BSc rendered prayer, and Vineeth Lobo, President of the Science Forum, extended a warm welcome. Anjum Nihala II B.Sc, Vice President of the Science Forum, delivered the vote of thanks. Sameeya Banu from III B.Sc. compered the event.

Vice principals Dr P S Krishna Kumar and Dr Vijaykumar Moleyar were present on the occasion.
