Mangaluru, Feb 27, 2024 : The essence of service and unlocking the potential in oneself is commemorated as World Thinking Day every year on February 22nd. An important day in history to enshrine the birth day of Lord Baden- Powell the founder of Scout and Guide Movement. To memorialize this day a two-day event of Guides Camp and Thinking Day was organised in St Agnes School CBSE for the Guides, Bulbuls, Cubs and Scouts on 21st February to 23rd February.

Under the amicable guidance of the Principal Sr Maria Sarika A.C, Guides Captains and their mentors the event was a grand success with a formal inaugural ceremony and Flag hoisting of the Guides Camp by the Chief Guest Mrs Sufala B a leader trainer and dynamic personality having rendered service in Dist. Training Commission in Mangalore. On the first day she conducted sessions on Promise, guide law, left hand shake and basic guide skills followed by First Aid Kit guidelines on the second day.

The night campfire gained momentum of success with the well-coordinated programme. The esteemed guests for this event were Sr. Dr. Maria Roopa A.C the Joint Secretary of St Agnes Institutions and Mr. Narayan Sherigar the Mangalore South Scouts and Guides Association secretary and the sisters of the Congregation. The introduction of camp fire began with lighting the fire, followed by an affable welcome, a traditional dance performance by the guides, patriotic songs sung by guide captains and students, a comedy skit in Tulu language and a moral skit on 'Empathy- The universal language' brought huge applaud from the audience.

Besides these other informative sessions were conducted by Ms Swarnalatha the Himalayan Wood Badge trainer to make different knots and Ms. Sandhya the treasurer of Mangalore South Guide also gave sessions on various techniques of guides requirement. Ms. Sufa B , Ms Nayana K also assisted in training the guides. Some craft sessions were also conducted by Sr. Marie Christine A.C who also is a Bulbul leader trainer. The important part of the camp was the Hike and visit to Sultan Battery followed by visit to Kadri park and conducting refreshing games. The residing camp was fostered by night games and collage making competitions and winners were awarded with prizes.

The guide’s camp was brought to a closure on 23rd with the group dispersed after the morning sessions of Yoga, Kit Inspection and Sharmadan followed by All faith Prayer.

On 23rd February a session was conducted for the Cubs and Bulbuls of the Junior team. The Chief Guest and Resource Person was Sr Marie Chrstine the leader trainer of Bulbuls. The programme began with a devotional touch of All faith prayer the bulbul students thereafter decorated the bulbul tree and with a grand salute to the resource person a grandeur welcome was initiated. The Resource person conducted sessions on learning different knots, first aid and its benefits, craft, action songs, games BP with six exercises and the closure was done with Kalarava. A formidable and enriching session was given to all the students with the remarkable resource persons to uplift the wellbeing of the students. Sumptuous meals were provided to the students.

The Principal, Vice Principal, and staff congratulate the students for their active participation, the captains for their unwavering support and the non teaching staff for their timely assistance to make this event a huge success.
