Mangaluru, Jan 31, 2024 : On January 30th, Carmel English Medium Higher Primary School Kotekar solemnly observed Martyrs' Day, a day dedicated to honoring the brave souls who sacrificed their lives for our nation's freedom. The commemoration aimed to instill a deep sense of gratitude, patriotism, and remembrance among the students.

The Peace Day program, organized by Grade VI C students, commenced with a poignant opening prayer led by students representing diverse religious beliefs. This inclusive start served as a moment of reflection, expressing our collective reverence for the sacrifices made by the martyrs, setting a respectful tone for the entire commemoration.

The Martyrs' Day program was graced by the esteemed presence of Chief Guest Poovappa Kadambar, along with the Principal Sr. Jacintha Desa and Coordinator Sr. Ashwina Almeida. Their presence added profound depth to the commemoration, emphasizing the importance of remembering and honoring the sacrifices made by our national heroes.

The significance of the day was eloquently highlighted by Adithya and Dhanvi of Grade VI C, setting the stage for the emotional and stirring performances by students, including patriotic songs, dances, and a Mime show. These artistic expressions conveyed the spirit of martyrdom, fostering a deep connection with the sacrifices of our national heroes.

In his speech on Martyrs' Day, the chief guest urged the students to cultivate patriotism towards the nation and emphasized that building a strong connection to one's country involves not only understanding its history but also actively participating in initiatives that contribute to the betterment of society. The chief guest encouraged the students to embody the values of sacrifice and dedication exhibited by our national heroes, fostering a profound love for the nation that transcends boundaries and generations.

Kangana of Grade VI C warmly welcomed the gathering, while Harshitka and Goutham served as the program's comperes, and Abbas expressed words of gratitude.

Martyrs' Day was observed with reverence and reflection, creating a somber yet uplifting atmosphere in our school. The day's events not only paid homage to the sacrifices of the martyrs but also inspired a renewed commitment to the values they fought for.
