Mangaluru, Aug 15 : Carmel English Medium Higher Primary School Kotekar celebrated the 77th Independence Day on August 15, 2023, with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. The day marked a significant milestone in India's history when the country achieved its freedom. Indians across the nation commemorate this memorable day with pomp and grandeur.

The event was graced by Sr. Juliana Mary AC, the Joint Secretary, as the chief guest, accompanied by Sr. Sheetal AC, Headmistress of Stella Mary School, Sr. Jacintha Dsa AC, Principal, and Sr. Anitha Dsouza AC, Vice Principal, Sr Fidele co-ordinator of Kindergarten, Mr. Naveen, the PTA Vice President of Carmel English Medium Higher Primary School Kotekar, were also present.

The formal program commenced at 8:30 a.m. with the hoisting of the National flag in the school premises by Chief Guest Sr. Juliana Mary AC and other distinguished guests. The day began with the singing of the National anthem and Vijay Vishwati to symbolize patriotism, presented gloriously in the presence of parents, students, and teachers.

Following the cultural program, a prayer song invoked God's blessings. The students welcomed the gathering with their rhythmic steps, and Mrs. Prafulla Saldanha formally welcomed everyone and introduced the chief guest.

The significance of the day's celebration was eloquently presented by Harshika from grade VI C, highlighting its importance. To kickstart the festivities, students from grade IX B performed melodious patriotic songs, spreading the spirit of patriotism. Furthermore, a meaningful skit was enacted by students from grades IX and X, providing a clear understanding of Independence Day.

In her speech, the chief guest delivered a beautiful message about the freedom struggle and enlightened the students about their responsibilities as citizens of the country. She also praised the students for their brilliant performance.

Rihan from grade VII A delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to everyone for their presence and showcasing patriotism on this significant day. The program was skillfully compered by Hrithvi from grade X and Yajna from grade VIII A.
