Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatimapura, Mundkur is situated at a distance of about 40 kms from Mangalore on the Kinnigoli-Belman Road and about 8 kms to the south of Belman, and is surrounded by Kelmbet, Kirem, Belman and Mukamar parishes.
Originally Mundkur was a part of Kirem. As it is 7 kms away from Mundkur, the local people wanted to have a separate parish. 1.86 acres of land was donated to the church during the time of Fr Abundius D’Souza, parish priest of Kirem in 1977. Another 2.12 acres of land was bought by Fr Vincent Martis from the government. The foundation stone was laid on December 8, 1992 and on May 25, 1994 the new church building was inaugurated by Bishop Basil S D’Souza. Prior to this, priests from Kirem or Belman used to come to Mundkur to celebrate Sunday Mass.
Mundkur was declared an independent parish in 1998.
